MENDING AND REPAIR SERVICES

  • Great Question! When we see a hole, rip or tear in fabric, we see opportunity. My services are committed to reinforcing your garment and reinforcing sustainability. This list below can be helpful to assess if my services are a good fit for YOU!

    Services DO include:

-Repairing a hole or seam. (Shirts, blouses, jackets, Jeans, pants)

-Materials: Prefers cotton. Denim, linen, cotton blends. (No spandex, elastic, or woven fabrics)

  • Alyssium Stitches is not a tailoring or alterations service. We highly encourage you to contact and support your local tailor or seamstress if you need help with the fit of your garment. There are experts who can get the job done well and quickly for you. Unfortunately, that is not the kind of services we provide.

Quick guide: If the mending or repair involves taking your measurements, it is probably not covered.

Use these examples below to self assess if our services are a good fit for your project! Our services DO NOT include:

    -Having pants hemmed

-Having the waist adjusted on pants

    -Having sleeves hemmed on blazers

    -Having skirts hemmed

-Having darts or seams on a dress adjusted

    -Having a skirt hemmed

    -Having a dress hemmed

-Having darts adjusted on a blazer

-Having darts adjusted on a blouse

    -Having pants leg width adjusted

  • It depends. The cost of a repair at an alteration service, tailor or seamstress will certainly get the job done fast. That is not something you can expect with Alyssium Stitches. Slow fashion and slow repair means you can expect many hours of work to be dedicated to mending, repairing or enhancing your garment in an intentional and sustainable way. With that being said, each project will vary in time, difficulty and cost of materials. You can expect to pay between $40-$80 for a simple repair and patch. Or you can also expect to pay $100+ for more intricate designs with multiple layers of patchwork and sashiko-hand stitching.

If you have a budget in mind for your project. Please indicate a range for me to consider in your request form! I am committed to working something out.

  • Glad you asked!

We hope you love our products and wear them often! We are committed to extending the life of our products if your purchase of an Alyssium Stitches garment gets worn, torn or damaged over time.

All eligible Alyssium Stitches clothing and apparel will receive a one-time only, 20% discount on mending, repair and enhancement services. Proof of purchase or receipt required for discount. Please submit a request for repair or enhancement here.

Other promotional discounts and offers will be announced periodically on social media or via email newsletter. I would recommend signing up for the email list and following us on Instagram to keep an eye out for those.

  • Our expected timeline for completing your project from start to finish is 4 to 6 weeks depending on current workload, material availability, and complexity of the project. While I do my best to meet this expected timeframe, timing is subject to change (without notice) based on a range of factors that are sometimes outside of our control.

Note: Refunds and/or cancellations are not permitted under any circumstance during this time period. Alyssium Stitches (at its sole discretion) will make best faith efforts to remedy any unfavorable situations and make things right.

  • Yes, opportunities to exercise full creative freedom are much appreciated. That means you give me full trust in the design, repair and enhancement process. Some of the best work is created in these instances. I understand if this agreement isn’t what you’re looking for. Collaboration can be a beautiful balance and welcomed as well. Lets work together.

  • Garments will not be washed prior to or after mending and repair. I am aware that clients have different sensitivities to detergents and fragrance and prioritize the safety and satisfaction of our customers. You may expect your garment to be ironed or steamed, if appropriate, during the process or completion of the repair.

  • Note, garments will be prepared in a dog-friendly art studio, with measures in place to keep all materials out of reach and protected. Having a furry friend in the art space is a welcomed energy and the companionship is much appreciated in the creation process. I understand that pet allergies are a serious consideration and hope that this transparency can help you make an informed decision about trusting me with your treasured possessions.

Garments will also be prepared in a tobacco and marijuana smoke-free environment. Occasionally, incense and fragrance are used gently in the space, but never applied directly to materials or garments. Fragrances like palo santo, scented candles and burning incense are mild and used in a ventilated studio. If you have sensitivities to fragrances, that will not be a barrier to our services. Just note that in the intake/application form, no questions asked!
